With reference to your letter F.6581/72/10
of the 20th December, in which you forward a copy of
a letter addressed to the Prime Minister relative to
the withdrawal of Military guarda from certain British
shipo, I am commanded by ly Lords Commissioners of the
Admiralty to acquaint you, for the information of the
Searatury of State for Foreign Affairs, as under.

The Shipping Companies were informed by the
Commander-in-Chief, China, on the 8th April, 1929
verbally, and again in writing on the 12th pril,
1929, of the decision of His Majesty's Government
that the British guards would be withdrawn at the end
of March, 1930. At the same time the Commander-in-
Châef acquinted the Shipping Companies of the
recommendations for the prevention of piracy which had
been made to His Majesty's Government by the Chiefs of
